100% Grenache Noir from Rhône, France.
While most of the red Châteauneuf-du-Pape is made with a blend of several different grapes, occasionally you can find the mono-varietal Grenache Noir version. 'Pied de Baud' is a well-regarded single vineyard dominated by sandy soil. The excellent drainage of sandy soil, sporadically found in the region, is prized for Grenache vines in the appellation (think the famed Château Rayas).
If your go-to reds include Pinot Noir from California and Oregon, you should definitely try this wine.
