100% Pinot Noir from Sonoma Coast AVA in California.
To grow grape vines in the climate of Sonoma Coast, where Hirsch Vineyards are located, is to live dangerously. The vines sit on the remote edge of the North American plate, where the powerful Pacific Ocean shrouded them in fog and humidity year-round. The biting coastal wind that comes with this commanding force of nature disrupts the warmth of the summer sun that the vines greatly need for ripening the fruits. Yet, David Hirsch saw the potential of this place for premium Pinot Noir before many did in 1978, and planted his first vines in 1980. The narrative of Sonoma Coast as a premier wine region is forever changed. Some of the most exciting Pinot Noir from California now come from this place.
'San Andreas Fault' cuvée is Hirsch's flagship Pinot Noir. The grapes for the wine come from 45 distinct farming blocks. The entire Hirsch Vineyards estate was fully converted to biodynamic practices in 2014.
